Position Purpose

Provides support to the Quality Department on internal and external quality issues and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Functions
  • Interact with Sherwood Manufacturing, Design and Engineering teams to define and substantiate quality issues and concerns and provide support in process development
  • Support suppliers on Sherwood standards and policies set forth in the Sherwood Quality System Requirement Manual. Assure timely responses from Suppliers on Corrective Actions.
  • Develop product/part inspection plans
  • Interact with Manufacturing and Engineering to assist in the development of product work instructions
  • Provide analytical support on investigations resulting from field returns and customer issues. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action teams. Provide timely responses back to the Customer.
  • Provide support for implementation of capital equipment including run off validations
  • Conduct internal audits including quality system audits, product, and process audits
  • Maintain Quality System Documentation
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Training/Certifications
Bachelor Degree in Engineering
Certified ISO Auditor
Experience
  • Minimum four (4) years manufacturing quality experience with detailed working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, process control documentation, gauging, and inspection processes
  • Experience in medical devices and/or gas control equipment is preferable
Required Skill Sets
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must understand shop floor control and be customer service oriented
  • Mathematical skills must be commensurate with education level
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • QAD knowledge a plus
Physical Demands
  • Position requires concentration, accuracy, and focused mental effort
  • Works in normal office environment with occasional exposure to plant heat, moderate noise, dust, dirt and fumes

Design Engineer

Position Purpose

Develop new product design, product enhancements, and support of current product utilizing standard design principles, state-of-the-art engineering technology and tools, trouble-shooting, failure mode analysis, and fluid flow and valve design experience

Essential Functions
  • Develop new product and technology enhancements of current products to meet end market requirements. Specify product performance
  • Provide technical support in all matters pertaining to customer, production, and supplier issues
  • Plan, perform and evaluate all prototype creation and development testing necessary for new design or engineering change requests (ECO’s)
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances that will apply to the manufacturability of the fabrication of metals, assembly and test techniques
  • Communicate with customers, vendors and other departments to gather/disseminate technical information
  • Review Manufacturing and Quality Plans to insure an accurate representation of the design requirements will be met with respect to production of the product
  • Keep abreast of new and emergent technologies
  • Examine and review preliminary and production drawings and MRP data for accuracy and completeness
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Training/Certifications
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years in a manufacturing environment with design development experience
Required Skill Sets
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • Must communicate and work interactively with shop floor personnel supervisors and various levels of management on a daily basis.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering practices and new product development strategies
  • Strong focus on ‘doing it right’
  • High passion, energy, drive, and intelligence
  • Ability to handle and organize multi-task functions and deadlines as required.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/Inventor
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Mathematical skills commensurate with degree. Must be able to comprehend, analyze, and disseminate complex technical information on the subject of structural design, material science, casting, molding, machining, and physical testing
  • Proficient with gas kinetics and fluid mechanics
  • Demonstrate practical judgment on the basis of both objective and subjective analysis of available and often incomplete data
