Position Purpose

Provides support to the Quality Department on internal and external quality issues and continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Functions
  • Interact with Sherwood Manufacturing, Design and Engineering teams to define and substantiate quality issues and concerns and provide support in process development
  • Support suppliers on Sherwood standards and policies set forth in the Sherwood Quality System Requirement Manual. Assure timely responses from Suppliers on Corrective Actions.
  • Develop product/part inspection plans
  • Interact with Manufacturing and Engineering to assist in the development of product work instructions
  • Provide analytical support on investigations resulting from field returns and customer issues. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action teams. Provide timely responses back to the Customer.
  • Provide support for implementation of capital equipment including run off validations
  • Conduct internal audits including quality system audits, product, and process audits
  • Maintain Quality System Documentation
  • Other duties as assigned
Bachelor Degree in Engineering
Certified ISO Auditor
  • Minimum four (4) years manufacturing quality experience with detailed working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008, process control documentation, gauging, and inspection processes
  • Experience in medical devices and/or gas control equipment is preferable
Required Skill Sets
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must understand shop floor control and be customer service oriented
  • Mathematical skills must be commensurate with education level
  • Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office Products, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • QAD knowledge a plus

Design Engineer

Position Purpose

Develop new product design, product enhancements, and support of current product utilizing standard design principles, state-of-the-art engineering technology and tools, trouble-shooting, failure mode analysis, and fluid flow and valve design experience

Essential Functions
  • Develop new product and technology enhancements of current products to meet end market requirements. Specify product performance
  • Provide technical support in all matters pertaining to customer, production, and supplier issues
  • Plan, perform and evaluate all prototype creation and development testing necessary for new design or engineering change requests (ECO’s)
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances that will apply to the manufacturability of the fabrication of metals, assembly and test techniques
  • Communicate with customers, vendors and other departments to gather/disseminate technical information
  • Review Manufacturing and Quality Plans to insure an accurate representation of the design requirements will be met with respect to production of the product
  • Keep abreast of new and emergent technologies
  • Examine and review preliminary and production drawings and MRP data for accuracy and completeness
