Sherwood Announces Initial Sales of New Global Valves in Europe
Brass and Stainless Steel Material Increases, Energy Costs, Escalating Oil Prices and Transportation Costs Continue to Impact Pricing
MECHANICSBURG, PA - (April 25, 2005) - Worldwide gas solutions company, Harsco GasServ announced today that its Sherwood division has been named by two European based companies to supply several thousand of Sherwood’s new Global Valves for high pressure industrial gas applications. The purchase orders include Global Valves (GV-Series) for oxygen, inert, carbon dioxide and helium gas services. All GV-Series valves are now manufactured on Sherwood’s new automated production line at the company’s Niagara Falls, NY facility in the USA.
Ronald W. Kaplan, Harsco GasServ President, said that, “The successful launch of our new Global Valve into Europe is an extension of our strategy to offer the widest range of industrial gas products and solutions worldwide.
Bud Allen, Sherwood’s National Accounts Manager, commented that, “The GV-Series valves for our European customers require the π mark in accordance with the European Transport Pressure Equipment Directive 99/36/EC and are certified to the ISO10297/EN849 design specification.” Mr. Allen further noted that, “The extensive global code compliance of our GV-Series valves make them a perfect fit for inter-country transportation of compressed cylinder gases in the European marketplace. Our ‘every country, every customer, every code,’ Global Valve paradigm certainly contributed to our successful acquisition of these orders.”
John Piscitelli, Product Manager for Industrial Gas and Medical valves, said, “The initial shipments are expected in approximately two weeks. Our new manufacturing machines, dedicated to GV-Series valve production, have enabled us to offer the European market a prompt and reliable alternative to the Euro-based valve producers. Although escalating material and energy costs continue to drive worldwide market prices upward for brass and stainless steel valves, we continue to focus on product quality and timely delivery to offer the global gas community a competitive advantage when selecting Sherwood valves.”
